Free weekend event welcomes community to venue one last time<\/em><\/p>\n

EDMONTON, AB<\/strong> \u2013 Northlands invites the public to a free Farewell Weekend at Northlands Coliseum from December 15-17.<\/p>\n

Unique programming will be offered each day including a charity hockey game between the Spruce Grove Saints and the Okotoks Oilers, public skates on the Northlands Coliseum ice and a Multicultural Round Dance presented by Candora Society.<\/p>\n

December 15 \u2013 Spruce Grove Saints vs. Okotoks Oilers<\/h2>\n

Doors 6 p.m., Game 7 p.m.<\/em><\/p>\n

Ryan Smyth\u2019s Spruce Grove Saints<\/a> will face off against the Okotoks Oilers<\/a> in a free charity hockey game to kick off the weekend. 630 CHED Santas Anonymous<\/a>, the Kinette Club of Spruce Grove<\/a> and the Kinsmen Club of Stony Plain<\/a> will accept cash and toy donations onsite and will receive all revenue from parking ($5 charge). Additionally, a 50\/50 draw will be held to benefit Parkland Kidsport<\/a>.<\/p>\n

All individuals who attend will receive one (1) ballot for a chance to win authentic Northlands Coliseum seats signed by Ryan Smyth. This is a free ticketed event in partnership with Ticketmaster. Free tickets can be accessed through northlands.com\/northlands-coliseum-farewell-weekend<\/a>.<\/p>\n

December 16 \u2013 Pancake Breakfast, Public Skates & Open House<\/h2>\n

Skate from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.<\/em><\/p>\n

A free pancake breakfast will take place inside Northlands Coliseum from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to start the day. The breakfast is open to the public and can be accessed from the North East entrance. Parking will be free at Northlands Coliseum.<\/p>\n

Time slots for public skates are available in 45-minute intervals each hour, on the hour. A maximum of 100 skaters will be allowed on the ice at one time. Individuals who wish to skate are required to register in advance through northlands.com\/northlands-coliseum-farewell-weekend<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The public is welcome to enter Northlands Coliseum and access the concourse and seating areas to enjoy the building while the public skates are taking place.<\/p>\n

December 17 \u2013 Multicultural Round Dance<\/h2>\n

Doors 3 p.m., Round dance begins 4 p.m.<\/em><\/p>\n

Treaty Six will gather for a Multicultural Round Dance presented by Candora Society<\/a>. This event will celebrate the Northlands Coliseum history as a gathering space for community. Local Indigenous artisans will have handcrafted items available for purchase. Anyone is welcome to attend, and this event does not require a ticket. Parking will be free at Northlands Coliseum.<\/p>\n

Northlands Coliseum has a rich history in Edmonton and has been a gathering space for events since its opening in 1974. The doors will be closing at the end of December, and this is a final opportunity for the public to attend events in this historic venue.
