EDMONTON, AB – Northlands is committed to celebrating the groups and individuals who make our community and province such a special place to live and this year’s choices for K-Days Parade Marshals reflect that commitment.

Northlands is excited to announce its upcoming Parade Marshals for the 2018 K-Days Parade. On July 20, Canadian Olympic Figure Skater Kaetlyn Osmond of Sherwood Park will be leading the parade, while, in celebration of their 50th anniversary, Alberta Special Olympians will be marshaling each entry of the parade.

“The parade is an Edmonton institution,” said Northlands Vice President of Corporate Development Lisa Holmes. “We are really excited this year because we get to highlight not just Edmonton, but all of Alberta, and talk about excellence and showcasing the people that make our province so proud.”

Osmond won a gold medal in the team event and a bronze medal in the individual event at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Her performance in these Winter Games captivated not only those of us in her home province, but everyone in Canada as well.

Since the first International Summer Games in 1968, the Special Olympics have proven that excellence in sport is universal, by facilitating opportunities for athletic pursuit at an international level. Northlands could not be more excited to celebrate and honour the members of the Special Olympics by having them marshal the K-Days kickoff.

Every year the K-Days Parade sets the 10-day event in motion with beautiful floats, giant balloons, amazing performers, loveable mascots and real life animals.

The annual parade kicks off Friday, July 20 at 10 a.m. The parade route starts on 108 St. & Jasper Ave., heading east on Jasper Ave., and north on 101 St., ending at 101 St. & 103 Ave. Get there early to grab a good spot and watch the Pre Parade Spectacular at 9 a.m. Immediately following the parade, at noon, the gates to K-Days open to the public as Edmonton’s largest annual summer event begins.
