EDMONTON, AB – The long wait is finally over as Edmonton’s largest annual summer celebration kicks into high gear tomorrow with the first day of K-Days.
To get the 10 best days of summer started off on the right foot, downtown Edmonton will be packed with floats, balloons, and community cheer for the annual K-Days Parade. The 2018 K-Days Parade will start at 10 a.m. on Jasper Avenue and 108th Street, travel east down Jasper Ave., turning north on 101st Street, and end at 101st and 103rd Avenue. Get there early to grab a good spot and watch the Pre-Parade Spectacular, which will start at 9 a.m.
Following the parade, head to the midway where all your favorite rides, games and food await you when gates open at noon. Get there early for the new food contest at noon in Hall E. Watch as local celebrity judges rate and rank some of the adventurous eats that will define the coming 10 days. We’ve got everything from sweet treats like the banana choco corn dog and the white chocolate cheesecake mini donuts to adventurous fare like the kangaroo stuffed burger and the cricket grilled cheese sandwich.
Of course, one of the opening weekend’s biggest highlights will be the return of the K-Days Rodeo in Hall D. Experience the excitement as professional athletes ride and rope their way to victory in the World’s largest one-header rodeo. Athletes from around North America will have only one shot to prove they’ve got the right stuff to win it all in their specific rodeo sport. The K-Days Rodeo is the largest Canadian Professional Rodeo Association’s sanctioned regular season rodeo in Canada, the seventh largest Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association sanctioned rodeo in the world and the eighth largest pro-rodeo in the world! Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for this ticketed event and it is not to be missed!
After the rodeo, it’s time to rock. At our TD South Stage it’s the return of Canadian punk icons Billy Talent, while on the Tim Hortons North Stage we’ve got long-running hit-makers 54•40! No matter your choice of performance, it’s sure to end the first night of K-Days with a bang.
