Edmontonian’s favourite summer fair delivers smiles galore, thanks to delicious food, musical hits and entertainment for every age.
Edmonton, AB: One of Edmonton’s most beloved annual events came to a close on Sunday evening, as K-Days wrapped its run for the 2019 season. One of the most highly anticipated events of the year, the 2019 K-Days welcomed over 702,327 guests through its gates, from July 19 – 28.
“In the fair industry you budget for 2-3 days of rain on a ten-day event, then you hope they don’t come on your key days,” says Peter Male, Northlands and K-Days President. “Unfortunately, two of our traditionally biggest days, the opening Friday and our largest day, the final Saturday were deeply affected by extreme wind, rain and thunderstorms this year. You build the best event you can and sometimes you hit a great weather run, and sometimes weather hits you. This year at K-Days it was the latter. On a positive note, the six days that were not rain outs saw strong crowds and an extremely positive response to the 2019 entertainment program.”
An intriguing array of gastronomic delights, including the winner of K-Days Best New Food, Butterbeer; a fantastic entertainment line-up which included kid show sensation Pink Fong and Feature Show Pandora’s Boxes; and a diverse concert lineup featuring artists ranging from The Offspring to Kip Moore all combined to draw in the crowds.
Newly introduced this year to K-Days was the Edmonton Mini Maker Faire, Action for Healthy Communities booths, the creative space featuring Instagram-worthy Vignettes, and a new agricultural attraction: cow cuddling.
Planning is now underway for the 2020 event, one that is anticipated to bring a new look and programming changes. “For 2020 we will be presenting an exciting new program across exhibits, entertainment and overall look and feel of the event,” adds Male.
