EDMONTON, AB – Greenwood Limousin and Brooking Angus named 2019 Champions

At this year’s Alberta Supreme Show of Champions presented by RAM Trucks Canada on Saturday, November 9, we announced the 2019 Grand Champions at Farmfair International.

The Grand Champion Female was Black Angus cow BROOKING COUNTESS 7077 with calf at side BROOKING DUSTY’S COUNTESS from Brooking Angus Ranch of Radville, Saskatchewan and Dusty Rose Cattle Co. The Grand Champion Bull was Limousin GREENWOOD ELECTRIC IMPACT ET from Greenwood Limousin of Lloydminster, Alberta. More than $110,000 in cash and prizes were awarded including a new RAM truck for each of the champions.

Farmfair International is pleased to partner with the Olds Fall Classic and Lloydminster Stockade Round-up to create the Alberta Supreme Show, which showcases breed champions from all three of the top cattle shows in Alberta to name two Alberta Supreme Grand Champions. The Grand Champions from all breeds and their owners competed head to head for the Alberta Supreme Show titles and the chance to drive away in a brand new RAM truck.

Northlands President and CEO Peter Male started the evening by remarking on the hard work and dedication it takes to be one of the exhibitors in the arena tonight. “Agriculture remains at the heart of what Northlands stands for and believes in,” Male said. “If you do something that you love with passion, over time you will elevate it into an artform. That’s what we see here today.”

Judge Riley Mader said a few words before the slap. “For us in the purebred cattle business—this is the big leagues. This is our Stanley Cup, this is our CFR, this is our PGA tour, and our World Series,” said Mader. “I truly commend each and every one of you out on this ring tonight. Whether it’s your first time or your tenth time, the bittersweet feeling of representing your family, your farm, and your breed is irreplaceable.”

Jackie Payne, of Greenwood Limousin, summed up her excitement after the announcement. “It’s a whole lot of hard work and dedication to our breed and the cattle industry that all kind of came together, and this is a really great celebration.” Payne was overwhelmed with emotion, hugging the judges and thanking them. “I’m so excited and grateful and proud of our people and my family.”
