K-Days celebrates the City of Champions with this year’s Parade Marshals
EDMONTON, AB – Northlands is pleased to announce that one of Edmonton’s most decorated sports championship teams of 2014, the Edmonton Oil Kings will lead the K-Days Parade as the 2014 Parade Marshals. In addition, we are proud to announce that in recognition of their 100 years of service to Canada and the Edmonton area, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry will be serving as this year’s Honourary Parade Marshals.
“These two groups encompass civic pride and service and we are thrilled to have them lead this year’s K-Days Parade,” said Sharilee Fossum, Acting President and CEO, Northlands. “Edmonton is a city full of local heroes, two of which will be recognized at this year’s parade,” said Fossum. “We are confident that the Edmonton Oil Kings and Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry will do Edmonton proud as this year’s K-Days Parade Marshals and Honourary Parade Marshals.”
Winners of the 2014 Memorial Cup and Ed Chynoweth Cup, the Edmonton Oil Kings truly embody what it means to be the City of Champions. Chosen for their outstanding achievements in the Western Hockey League this year, the Edmonton Oil Kings will lead the celebration in the streets with players and the Memorial and Ed Chynoweth Cups in tow.

In celebration of their 100th Anniversary of service to Canada, Northlands is thrilled to have Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry serve as this year’s Honourary Parade Marshals. Over its 100 year history, thousands of members of Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry have served this nation and Northlands is honoured to have the opportunity to recognize their dedication and sacrifice.

Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry is proud of our enduring relationship with the City of Edmonton and we invite the public to join us at Garrison Edmonton for our Regimental Centennial Parade and the 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (CMBG) Military Heritage Day on August 9.”
K-Days Parade Marshal Criteria:
The K-Days parade is civic event that celebrates the diversity of the Capital Region, our province and our country. The K-Days Parade chooses an annual Parade Marshal based on a number of criteria including:
• Significant accomplishment by an individual or organization in the year leading up to K-Days
• Recognition of a significant contribution to the Capital Region, province, or nation over a several years
• Tie to K-Days programming in the year of the parade
The K-Days Parade starts at 99 St. and 102 Ave. on July 18 at 10 a.m. with the Shriner’s Pre-Parade beginning at 9 a.m.
