The Wild West comes knocking on the city of Edmonton’s door from November 1-9
EDMONTON, AB – On October 23, Northlands kicked off the 41st Annual Canadian Finals Rodeo and Farmfair International as well as the inaugural Rodeo Week at Cook County Saloon with special guests Hey Romeo, Miss Rodeo Canada 2015 contestants and 2014 CFR competitors. Rodeo Week is set to bring the best of the west to Edmonton from November 1 – 9 and includes two anchor events – the Canadian Finals Rodeo from November 5-9 and Farmfair International from November 4 – 9.
“Both the Canadian Finals Rodeo and Farmfair International make an impressive impact on the City of Edmonton during the first week of November,” said Tim Reid, President & CEO, Northlands. “It’s not just the Northlands grounds that hosts tens of thousands of guests each year – Edmonton’s restaurants, bars and hotels are filled with entertainment seekers and out-of-town visitors who will enjoy the western hospitality our city has to offer,” said Reid.
As the largest annual indoor rodeo in Canada, the Canadian Finals Rodeo attracts the best rodeo athletes, stock and personnel in the country to Rexall Place for six adrenaline packed performances. This year, 108 competitors will descend on the city of Edmonton to vie for national titles in seven major events and more than 1.5 million dollars in prize money. Collecting points at rodeos across the country all year, the CFR competitors represent the 12 best athletes in each event. With humble beginnings, the first edition of the Canadian Finals Rodeo drew 24,000 dedicated rodeo fans to the Edmonton Gardens. Now, more than 90,000 guests come to Rexall Place to enjoy the CFR annually.
Farmfair International is Canada’s largest agricultural showcase that draws in nearly 90,000 guests looking to network, show and sell top quality livestock at the Edmonton EXPO Centre each year. Boasting the highest prize purse in Canada, Farmfair International offers more than $175,000 in prizing for beef programs alone including the famed Alberta Supreme Show, where two brand-new RAM Trucks are up for grabs. This year’s highlights include, eight halls filled with agriculture programming, more than 1,000 head of livestock including almost 800 head of cattle, 150 exhibitors inside RAM Country Marketplace and 16 working ranches competing in Heritage Ranch Rodeo presented by Martin Deerline and Zoetis.
