EDMONTON, AB – Despite tough economic times that has many Alberta families watching where they spend their entertainment dollars, visitors flocked to K-Days, raising the fair’s attendance by 2.3 percent over 2015 to reach 803,087 attendees in 2016.

“Last year we heard our guests wanted more value for their dollar and we listened,” said Tim Reid, President and CEO, Northlands. “With our K-Days concert series we saw 20 acts over 10 days on two stages. In addition to the amazing caliber of music, our partnership with the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation to present a 10-day Pow Wow and all of our family-friendly entertainment throughout the grounds; we believe we provided tremendous value for the entertainment dollar for Edmontonians and Northern Albertans.”

Northlands has been a part of our community for 137 years. As such, it takes its role in the community seriously. As an ongoing tradition at K-Days, Northlands is proud to support other not-for-profit organizations. The Stollery Superstars Party celebrated young philanthropists who, over the past year, raised more than $318,000 for the Stollery Children’s Hospital. In addition to the Stollery partnership, Northlands volunteers spent 10 busy days selling 50/50 tickets to raise funds for the Northlands Agriculture Education fund which drew a pot of $138,225.00. And no one can forget  our #AlbertaStrong themed K-Days Parade that brought members of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo to Edmonton. Monday Morning Magic saw so many families enjoy a special morning on the midway with friends from various local organizations and sports teams. We saw smiles for miles.

Media are invited to hear more details on K-Days 2016 and what a realized Vision 2020 could mean for Edmonton’s signature summer fair on Tuesday, August 2 at 1 p.m. in the Paddock Theatre at Northlands Park.
