Alberta’s next generation represents in Singapore
EDMONTON, AB – Northlands is pleased to announce Laura Bodell from Sherwood Park and Clayton Schafers from Edmonton as the winners of the Next Generation Scholarship. This opportunity provided by Northlands is in conjunction with the Royal Agriculture Society of the Commonwealth (RASC). Each recipient receives $3,025 to attend the 27th Commonwealth Agriculture Conference in Singapore from October 31-November 4, 2016.
“The future of the industry lies with our young leaders,” said Tim Reid, President and CEO of Northlands. “They create opportunities to share their innovations and successes. This conference brings together individuals with varied experience and knowledge of the agriculture industry and it is this diversity that helps shape the future of agriculture.”
The four-day conference focuses on best practices in agriculture and agricultural show management including the ongoing sustainability of royal agricultural shows. The participants from Commonwealth countries return with a broader understanding of agriculture in different areas around the world. While at the conference, representatives will promote Edmonton, Alberta and Canada while building relationships and developing international connections.
In 2015, Northlands secured the bid to host the 28th Commonwealth Agriculture Conference in conjunction with Farmfair International in November 2018. The RASC is a confederation of more than 50 leading national and regional Agricultural Show Societies, Agricultural Associations and Research Bodies working in 24 Commonwealth countries.
