Farmfair International and Western Week gallop into Edmonton this November

EDMONTON, AB – Agriculture has a solid footing in our province, and these rural roots will be celebrated in its capital city this November. Western Week kicks off the fun from November 3-12 and Farmfair International will attract local, regional and international visitors from November 8-12.

“Northlands is committed to the agriculture industry, and we will continue to grow our premier agricultural showcase, Farmfair International, moving forward,” said Tim Reid, President and CEO, Northlands. “We had record attendance numbers at Farmfair last year with more than 95,000 guests coming through our doors to engage with the agriculture industry. We expect that our partnership with Agri-Trade in Red Deer will allow for more individuals to take in the show, and we look forward to seeing the results of this relationship.”

Northlands will also be hosting BeefTech, an interactive industry learning event, in conjunction with Farmfair on November 8 and 9. This event will bring farmers and ranchers closer to technology by providing educational sessions, hands on workshops and technology demonstrations.

Beyond Alberta, Farmfair garners international attention each year with its Inbound Buyer Program. The program coordinates with Canadian cattle breeders and genetics companies to support international buyers in their travel and attendance at the show.

“Farmfair is being noticed beyond our borders as a world-class agricultural event,” said Tim Reid. “This year, we have surpassed our past attendance numbers for international buyers with approximately 100 expected to attend Farmfair this year. These buyers represent 16 markets and more than 65,000 head of cattle. This is an indication of the strong interest in our industry in Alberta and the quality of our event here at Northlands.”

The support for western lifestyle will be felt throughout the city as Western Week runs in conjunction with the Canadian Finals Rodeo and Farmfair International from November 3-12. The events within Western Week will provide Edmontonians with the opportunity to engage in western-themed activities in bars, restaurants, hotels and other public spaces. For 10 party-packed days, the city will celebrate with events including the Rodeo Week Chili Cook-Off, Rodeo Kids Korral, the Miss Rodeo Canada Pageant and more.
